ART BLOCKS! You are not alone!
This topic came up on the Procreate and character design class this Monday. How you can overcome it. Art block is a common issue that all artists face, and it can be frustrating when you feel like you're not making progress on your work. Here are a few tips for overcoming art block from our teacher Elena Buya (@elena.buya):
Look for inspiration: Inspiration can come from many places. Look at other artists' work at exhibitions, read books, watch movies, or listen to music that inspires you. You may find that something you see or hear sparks an idea for your own work.
Seek professional advice and opinion: Read the book or use the internet, but better come to the teacher. Professional advice will give a shortcut to your problem and maybe several of them. It is so simple. Use this tool.
Step back and do something you are really good at: When you are relying on your skills it gives you a sense of achievement and power to go further.
Set goals and deadlines: Sometimes giving yourself a specific goal or deadline can help you get unstuck. Set a goal for what you want to accomplish with your work, and give yourself a deadline for when you want to complete it. This can help motivate you to keep working even when you're feeling stuck.
Collaborate with others: Working with other artists or creatives can be a great way to get new ideas and perspectives. Try collaborating with a friend or joining a creative community to connect with others and get inspired.
Take a break: Sometimes the best thing you can do when you're stuck is to step away from your work for a little while. Go for a walk, do something else you enjoy, or take a nap. Giving your brain a break can help you come back to your work feeling refreshed and inspired.
Remember, art block is a normal part of the creative process, and it's okay to take breaks and seek out inspiration when you need it. Keep experimenting, stay curious, and don't give up!
Together we can do it!
